The roles

Join a growing team that ensures the safety of our State by looking after our fleet of emergency vehicles - the same vehicles our crews use to fight bushfires, help at road crash rescues and attend emergencies every day.

You will be provided with continuous on-the-job training, including a variety of high-risk licences. These will enable you to take part in a 24-hour roster system where you are on call to provide mechanical support. 

During high threat seasons you may also have the opportunity to provide technical support at fire grounds and incidents.

When lodging an application you will need to provide:

  1. A current CV demonstrating your relevant knowledge, skills and experiences, and listing contact details for two referees
  2. A copy of your unrestricted heavy rigid (HR) license (please note: for those seeking a trade upgrade from Light vehicle Mechanic, a current Australian Manual C Class driver's license  is sufficient)
  3. Depending on the role you are applying for, a copy of your certification in:
    • Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
    • Minimum Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
    • Certificate III in Engineering Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic (Fixed Plant Mechanic) with elective modules relevant to heavy vehicles
    • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (Mobile Plant Equipment) with elective modules relevant to heavy vehicles
    • Equivalent with elective modules relevant to heavy vehicles
    • Automotive Electrical Technology
    • Body Building/Fabrication or Allied Trade
  4. Evidence of your eligibility to work in Australia (visa applicants only).
